First phase
A. Enrollment forms are provided by the Registrar’s office, but the administration and interpretation of the entrance examination is to be taken by the guidance and counseling office.
B. Student’s enrollment procedure (Registrar’s office)
C. Intake Interview and collection of students cumulative data (Guidance Office)
D. Good Moral Character submitted by the High School Guidance Office or other colleges is to be submitted in the Guidance office.
Second Phase
E. After the student’s enrollment, the office of the academic affairs will conduct an orientation to students.
F. Separate orientation that includes the basic services of the guidance and counseling office will be conducted by the guidance counselor per course and year and is scheduled.
COUNSELING PROCESS (GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL)
A. Group counseling will be included in the guidance program and is scheduled per course and year. Group counseling will tackled topics such as meeting student’s expectations, fears, adjustment period in college life, stress management, setting priorities, and teacher-student relationship that affects learning.
B. Group counseling will be schedule in coordination with Deans/coordinators of different colleges.
C. Group counseling process and procedures will be treated confidential. Any information that will be gathered is solely the responsibility of the guidance counselor and will be use as a tool for appraisal/improvement/research studies for the improvement of curriculum development and strategic planning and programs.
D. The guidance counselor will submit an annual/semestral/quarterly reports to the vice president of academic affairs with regards to the services rendered by the guidance office.
E. Individual counseling can either be done in 2 process; 1) Walk-in or 2) Thru referral case study.
F. Individual counseling process is the core of the guidance program and services so it is the sole responsibility of the guidance counselor. The guidance office will always uphold and protect the student’s right to confidentiality. Confidential cases, deviant cases, disputes, and conflict management will be treated with confidentiality. The guidance counselor will submit its recommendation based on the case presented to the discipline committee to take further actions.
G. Immediate counseling session will not be entertained but will be noted. Student who is being referred in the guidance office shall be scheduled in due time after proper case study is undertaken. Exception to the rule is in the case of student’s riot, quarrels, malicious and scandalous incidences among students, or student and professor’s disputes and arguments, harassments, etc.
H. Regular follow-up will be done for those students who undergone counseling and group counseling sessions.
I. Case Conferences involving parents/teachers and their child/students and the affected party will be done in order to facilitate none bias information and decision.
J. Deviant cases such as aspect/suspect of psychological disorders, seeking medical attention, neurosis, and psychosis will be subject to referral to proper medical/clinical authorities for further assessment and recommendations.
K. Cases that involves life and death situation such as suicide will be carefully handled by the guidance counselor since guidance is more on preventive than curative.
L. Cases of rape, molestations, abuse (physical and verbal), scandals and those of cases needed to be filed in court will be entertained by the guidance office except that if the case is being filed by the complainant in the higher court, the duties and responsibilities in the said case of the guidance office and the institution ends.
M. With regards to the problems of student’s drop-outs, upon the advice of the registrar’s office/professors/authorities concerned, the guidance counselor has the capability of doing home visits to advice parents/guardians of the present status of their child.
CAREER/OCCUPATIONAL SERVICE:
A. The guidance and counseling office will regularly conduct a career orientation program for the students and at the same time conduct a standardized aptitude examination as needed arises.
B. Informational services with regards to career and occupational interest will be conducted.
PLACEMENT SERVICE: To follow
ANALYSIS INVENTORY SERVICE:
A. The guidance office will have its analysis inventory service by preparing and completing the students cumulative information in all year levels and colleges. Profiles and records of students will be available in the guidance office if needed.
FOLLOW-UP SERVICE:
A. Follow-up on counseling.
B. Follow-up on those exiting students, graduates, and alumna.
